Existing noise levels on the southern portion of the College Park site are also influenced by traffic from I-205.
Noise levels near I-205 were estimated using the FHWA Traffic Noise Prediction Model (FHWA-RD-77-108)
based on existing traffic conditions. As indicated in Table 4.13-3, the 70, 65, and 60 dBA CNEL noise contours
from the freeway extend from the nearest travel lane of I-205 for a distance of approximately 473, 1,016, and
2,187 feet, respectively. Assuming 50 feet between the outer edge of the nearest travel lane to the project site
boundary(i.e., Caltrans right-of-way), the 70, 65 and 60 dBA CNEL noise contours from the freeway extend into
the project site by approximately 423, 966, and 2,137 feet, respectively. The extent of these contours is also
shown in Figure 4.13-2. —
Table 4.13-2
Existing Traffic Noise Levels
Existing Noise Level(dBA
Roadway Segments Ld JCNEL)at 50 Feet from
Centerline of Near Travel Lane
Byron Road between Mountain House Road and Mountain House Parkway 68.1
Byron Road between Mountain House Parkway and Hansen Road 67.8
Mountain House Parkway between Byron Road and Main Street 63.6 —
Mountain House Parkway between Mascon Boulevard and Grant Line Road 63.9
Mountain House Parkway between Von Sosten Road and I-205 63.1
Grant Line Road between Mountain House Road and proposed Great Valley Parkway 68.2
Grant Line Road between road just west of DeAnza Boulevard and Mountain House Parkway 64.1
Grant Line Road(West)between Mountain House Parkway and Hansen Road 64.2
Von Sosten Road between Mountain House Parkway and Hansen Road 59.2
Byron Road between Mountain House Road and Mountain House Parkway 68.1 —
Notes:Traffic noise levels were modeled using the FHWA Traffic Noise Prediction Model(FHWA-RD-77-108),based on traffic information
obtained from the data generated by TJKM Transportation Consultants used to prepare the traffic section for this EIR and assuming no
natural or human-made shielding(e.g.,vegetation,berths,walls,buildings).Refer to modeling output on file at the San Joaquin County --
Community Development Department(SJCCDD)for input assumptions and output results.
Source:Data compiled by EDAW in 2004
Table 4.13-3
Existing Freeway Traffic Noise Levels
Noise Level(dBA CNEL) —
Noise Level(CNEL)at 50 Distance of CNEL Contour from Near
Feet from Near Travel Travel Lane Centerline(feet)
Lane Centerline 60 dBA 65 dBA 70 dBA
1-205 between 1-580 Split and Mountain House Parkway 81,46 2,187 1,016 473
Interchange —
Notes:Traffic noise levels were modeled using the FHWA Traffic Noise Prediction Model(FHWA-RD-77-108),based on traffic information
obtained from the data generated by TJKM Transportation Consultants used to prepare the traffic section for this EIR and assuming no
natural or human-made shielding between the roadway and receptor.Refer to noise modeling output, available for review at the SJCCDD.
for modeling input assumptions and output results. As a result, the noise contour distances should be considered as representative bands —
of similar noise exposure, rather than absolute distances of demarcation.
Source:Data compiled by EDAW in 2004
EDAW College Park at Mountain House Specific Plan III Draft EIR
Noise 4.13-6 San Joaquin County
