Based on these sources, it appears that, of the
Lagricultural chemicals reportedly applied to the subject property, only those containing cyfluthrin,
paraquat dichloride, methomyl, chlorpyrifos, permethrin, and lambda-cyhalothrin are RUPs.
LAccording to EXTOXNET, cyfluthrin is found in both restricted use and general use insecticides.
Cyfluthrin is sensitive to breakdown by sunlight, and its half-life is 48-72 hours at the soil surface
(Pesticide Information Profile—PIP,2001).
LAccording to EXTOXNET,paraquat is an RUP and a highly toxic compound in EPA toxicity class I.
I The chemical is highly persistent in the soil environment, with reported field half-lives of greater than
L 1,000 days (PIP, 1996).
According to EXTOXNET,methomyl is a broad spectrum insecticide classified as an RUP by the EPA
Lbecause of its high acute toxicity to humans. Methomyl is highly soluble in water, has a soil half-life of
33 days, and its adsorption to soil particles is weak to moderate. Consequently, methomyl has been
identified as a potential groundwater contaminant (PIP, 1993).
L
L
7
L -444
L
