The site walk was
conducted to identify visible evidence of recognized environmental conditions. Mr. l
Mendoza was unaccompanied during the site walk. Photographs taken during LFR's
site visit are included in Appendix C.
Union Pacific railroad tracks are located near the northeastern site boundary.
According to a plat map reviewed by LFR, the Union Pacific railroad easement is
approximately 175 feet wide.
At the time of the site reconnaissance, chain-link fencing was observed along the
northern and western site boundaries. The Site consisted of vacant land with gently
rolling topography. LFR observed a man-made storm water collection basin at the
approximate center of the Site which the site representative indicated was built in the
1970s (Figure 2). The majority of the Site was covered with seasonal grasses, debris
piles (resembling landscaping debris and/or typical household debris), and numerous
scattered soil stockpiles on the northwestern and northeastern portions of the Site.
Several electric power poles, an underground gas pipeline marker, and fiber optic cable
markers were observed along the southeast site boundary. One of the power poles
supported a transformer. No staining was observed on the soil beneath the transformer,
or adjacent to the gas pipeline marker and/or fiber optic cable.
An 8-inch metal groundwater well system was observed on the southwestern comer of
the Site. No staining was observed on the soil adjacent to the well. Based upon the
remaining equipment, it appears that the pump motor was powered with electric power.
However, LFR was not able to verify this. No evidence of buildings or structures was
observed on the Site during our reconnaissance.
5.1.1 Hazardous Substances and Petroleum Products in Connection with
Identified Uses
LFR observed no hazardous substance and petroleum product containers during this
investigation.
003-09204-00_LowerSacmmenWRoad_7LHomes Phase 1 FSA:dh Page 10
