Mr. John Verner ..
Page 4
The possibility of migration of petroleum hydrocarbons from
Segura Trucking Company was evaluated in the Risk Assessment by
including benzene in the soil-gas survey at the SP C and D site.
The results indicate that benzene was not detected in any of the
soil-gas samples. For this reason, possible migration of
contamination from Sequra Trucking Company was not considered
further in the Risk Assessment.
The remaining exposure pathways (inhalation of VOC emissions from
SP C and D soil, VOC emissions from SHAD soil, and VOC emissions
from the SHAD air strippers) were evaluated in the Risk
Assessment. The exposure assessment modeling predicted air
concentrations of VOCs from SP C and D and from SHAD. These
concentrations were lower than health-based risk values.
Therefore, we conclude that no significant health impacts will
result from long-term inhalation of VOCs from SP C and D and/or
SHAD.
If you have any questions concerning remediation measures at the
Sharpe Army Depot site, please contact Tracie Billington, Region
1 Office, at (916) 855-7873 . If you have any questions regarding
this letter or border zone issues, please contact Allen K.
Wolfenden, Chief, Technical Services, at (916) 445-7410.
Sincerely,
i
L15.
e N. auh, Chie
Program and Administrative
Support Division
Toxic Substances Control
Program
cc: see next page
