Water Quality Management 3
French Oils, LLC
San Joaquin County
Waste Streams Not Generated. .
! • Solid waste. The raw materials (corn germ) come in bulk with no
packaging. This material can be loaded directly into the hopper and into
! the processing system. Additionally, no 'scrap' is produced. The germ
itself is separated into either oil or meal; both of which are sold as an
end product. Additionally, any 'fines' (residual solids from oil
separation process) can be re-processed back through the system and into
an end product.
• Process Waste Water. This process creates no waste water._ . No water is
added into the process and any minimal water removed would came out in
the form of steam from the cooling of the meal.
3. Plans for managing waste streams generated
General Approach. Given the limited amount of waste water and the relatively high
cost of setting up the infrastructure to treat this water the approach is to
capture, store and- haul any waste water to-an appropriate, licensed offsite
facility for treatment. The -result would be a zero wastewater discharge at' the '
site or under the direction of French Oils, LLC.
• Water Treatment Vessels. Water treatment vessels would be managed by an
outside third party that would simply exchange the vessels and treat them
of-fbite. Current estimate is- . We-2—PE-tanks. We are currently in '
discussions with Culligan to provide this service.
Stuart Dennis
(800) 209-2837
stuartd@isingsculligan.com
• Blow-Down Tank. The water from the blow-down tank would be pumped into a
larger tank for periodic servicing. For planning purposes, we are
estimating that this volume would be significantly less than 100
gallons/day. We are currently in ,discus_sion with Nalco (and their
network of carriers, i.e_ East Bay MUD) to determine the specific
chemical components of the blow-down water, to configure the proper
solution for offsite treatment and to provide this service.
Paul Overbeck
(209) 202-6136
pkoverbeck@nalco.com
•. Oil Lines / Tanks. Only as a contingency, against the manufacturers
recommendations. If- this were to occur, the oil tanks themselves would
capture any waste water, which may be a mix of oils, water and
detergents. We have had preliminary discussions with Kleen Industrial
Services to verify their capability to provide this service, should it be
r.equired. - -
` Fionn O'Neill
Ik (925) 831-9802
fionn@kleenblast.com
4. What items to be connected to the on-site septic tank and leachfield system
None. The only items to be connected to the septic tank are the restrooms.
5. County contacts involved in the site use and improvement plan (building permit)
process.
i
Primary-Contact:
Mo Hatef, Associate Planner
Planning Division
e San Joaquin County Community Development-Department
(209) 468-8477
mhatef@sjgov.org
Interim Contact . (Mo is currently out of the office) :
Rick Griffin
i (209) 468-3154
Provided in 27 February 2009 e-mail from Mike Seley to Regional Board staff
