Labe 9 ,,,• ....,r
Approximate 80-Acre Property
September 25, 2001
Job No. 1107-013
The property presently supports domestic and irrigation water wells. If future developments on the
property do not require the use of these wells, they should be abandoned properly in accord with
state and local regulations.
Our research of government agency information indicates that there have been no reported
contamination conditions of a sufficient magnitude or proximity considered threatening to the
environmental integrity of the subject property.
In our opinion, no further environmental investigation of the subject property is warranted by
available information. However, based on the age of the on-site residential structure, asbestos
containing building materials may be present. The San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control
District inuy require a survey of the building and the removal of regulated asbestos containing
materials prior to any demolition activities. The California Occupational Safety and Health
Administration (Cal-OSHA) requires that demolition contractors disturbing regulated quantities
of asbestos containing construction materials have special licensing.
STATEMENT OF QUALIFICATIONS
Raney Geotechnical is a geotechnical and environmental engineering firm located in West
Sacramento, California. The firm was founded in 1979; current professional staff includes seven
engineers, three geologists, and a Certified Asbestos Consultant. The firm was involved in
_ environmentally related geotechnical and hydrological studies as early as 1981, shortly after the
enactment of the Superfund legislation. These early environmentally driven studies were performed
for uranium and coal mining clients in the mountain west, and included regional geology,
groundwater quality, soil chemistry, surface water hydrology, and geotechnical engineering.
Underground tank corrective work was undertaken beginning in 1988. The firm has performed
more than 100 Phase I and II toxic audits and/or environmental assessments across the western
United States within the last year, and is used as a consultant by a number of banks. Studies have
included heavy industrial and military sites as well as thousand-plus acre properties.
The firm's principal, John Raney, was educated as a Civil Engineer at the University of the Pacific.
Mr. Raney received a Master of Science degree in Geotechnical Engineering from the University of
Califomia at Berkeley. Prior to founding Raney Geotechnical, Mr. Raney was a project engineer in
both the San Francisco and Salt Lake City offices of Dames & Moore. Raney Geotechnical's
environmental manager, Joe Brusca, holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Geology from the
University of California at Davis, California. Mr. Brusca is a Registered Geologist and Certified
Engineering Geologist with the State of Califomia. Mr. Brusca and key staff are certified for
Hazardous Waste Site Operations training in accord with 29 CFR 1910.120. The project geologist
for this study, Peter Ruttan, holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Geology from Fort Lewis
College, Durango, Colorado. Mr. Ruttan is a Registered Geologist, a Registered Environmental
Assessor, and Certified Asbestos Consultant in the State of Califomia. Prior to joining Raney
Geotechnical, Mr. Ruttan was employed by Petroleum Information Corporation.
000
