The use reports do not include chemicals for which a permit is not required.8 The EPA's Restricted Use Products (RUP) Report9 was searched for the chemicals reportedly applied to the subject property. Based on this source, it appears that, of the agricultural chemicals reportedly applied to the subject property, only those containing diazinon and methyl bromide are RUPs. The U.C. According to EXTOXNEf, diazinon is an organo-phosphate insecticide classified as slightly toxic to moderately toxic, depending on the formulation. Its average half-life in soil is two to four weeks. Diazinon has been detected in 54 wells in California. According to EXTOXNEf, methyl bromide is a highly toxic compound in EPA Toxicity Class I. Methyl bromide quickly evaporates at temperatures ordinarily encountered in fumigating.
