• SOIL SUITABILITY STUDY
Introduction
Live Oak GeoEnvironmental, Inc. (Live Oak) was contracted by Norman Gene Norton to
conduct a Soil Suitability Study for the property located at 18200 and 18350 South
Henry Road, Escalon, California (Plate 1).
The Soil Suitability Study was conducted to determine whether the soils are suitable for
use with a septic system. The study was performed according to the requirements of
Section 9-1105.2(d) of the San Joaquin County Development Code.
The formatting of the report has been designed to follow the recommendations of the
San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department as described in its Soil
Suitability Study Requirements Checklist.
Proposed Development
A minor subdivision is proposed to divide the Site into four parcels (Plate 2). Mr. Norton
indicated that no changes to the use of the Site are planned.
• Site Description
The Site consists of Assessor's Parcel Numbers (APN) 229-260-27 and -30,
approximately 38.5 acres in size. It is located at 18200 and 18350 South Henry Road,
Escalon, California. The Site is an almond orchard (Plate 3). Irrigation water is
provided by the South San Joaquin Irrigation District.
The elevation of the Site, according to a United States Geological Survey topographic
map, is approximately 145 feet above mean sea level (Plate 4). The Site is relatively
flat.
The San Joaquin County Community Development Department web site states that the
Site is AL-10, limited agriculture with a minimum parcel size of 10 acres. This zoning
designation "is intended to recognize and preserve areas that contain existing
concentrations of small-scale agricultural operations and dwellings."
•
LOGE 1809 Page 1
