Septic tank use per lot will be from an on-site residence which is estimated to be four bedrooms
in size and a potential legal second dwelling unit of two bedrooms. The daily average flow rates
presented will be used for the nitrate loading portion of this report. The estimated sewage flow
are available from a number of references. The uses presented below were guided by the San
Joaquin Sewage Standards (1996) and Crites and Tchobanoglous (1998).
The rates presented from the references provide general guidance but often do not reflect a match
in usage. Careful examination, professional judgement, and experience are necessary to select a
reasonable flow rate estimate. The flow rates selected for the uses associated with this
development are presented in the following table.
