i I
Expected On-Site Maximum Septic Tank Usage S
Maximum expected usage on the Site would be from the winery building, the existing
residence, and an additional dwelling unit. Septic system design should be based on (3,
the On-Site Wastewater Disposal Standards (2003) or other engineering
recommendations.
Ground Water Information
Depth and Gradient
Live Oak reviewed ground water elevation information available from the San Joaquin
County Flood Control and Water Conservation District to determine the ground water
levels near the Site. Data from spring and fall of 2009 were the most recent available
` from this source. According to an analysis of these maps (Plates 5 and 6), ground
2 4) water elevation is 25 to 35 feet below mean sea level; ground water flows toward the <
southeast at a rate of five to eight feet per mile in the vicinity of the Site.
Given that the ground elevation of the Site is approximately 95 feet, the depth to water
below the Site is estimated to be 120 to 130 feet, depending on the time of year.
Potential Ground Water Contamination Issues
The Soil Suitability Study is not intended to be an investigation into ground-water
contamination sources, and no such investigation was conducted. Many sources can
\ contribute to ground water contamination, including leaking underground storage tanks,
(ti 1 agricultural activities, dairies, septic systems, and storm water infiltration. Agricultural (L
activities and the use of septic systems in the area are known ground water
contamination sources with the potential to impact the Site.
On-Site Wells
One domestic/irrigation well exists on the Site, as depicted on Plate 2. Two well permits
were found at the San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department. The first C`f'3)
permit, dated September 1987, is for the installation of a new domestic well at the
residence. The second permit, dated December 1987, is for pump installation at the
same well. -The permits are included in Appendix 4.
Water Sample
A water sample was collected from the domestic well on the Site on March 18, 2010 by
David Welch. The sample was to be analyzed for Nitrate and dibromochloropropane
(DBCP) per San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department policy.
LOGE1005 Page 3
