Existing and Proposed Septic Tank Usage
P
Existing Septic System
Two septic systems currently exist on the Site, one at the residence and one at the
agricultural storage building. Both systems utilize leach lines and seepage pits.
Proposed Septic System
According to the proposed site plan, the renovated agricultural building will utilize the
existing septic system to serve a small restroom. The San Joaquin County
Environmental Health Department may require an upgrade (expansion) to the system
for commercial use.
On-Site Septic Permit History
Two septic system installation permits were found for the Site at the San Joaquin
County Environmental Health Department. In September 1987 a new system was
installed at the 3-bedroom residence. The residential system utilizes a 1,600-gallon
tank, three 100-foot leach lines, and three 33-inch diameter by 25-foot deep seepage
pits. In January 2000 a new system was installed at the agricultural storage building.
This system utilizes a 1,200-gallon tank, -one 40-foot leach line, and two 36-inch
diameter by 25-foot deep seepage pits. No permits for septic system repairs were
identified for the Site.
Two permits related to the domestic water well were also identified for the site. All
permits for the property are attached in Appendix 4.
Existing Septic Tank Usage in the Vicinity
To determine the existing septic system usage in the area, our office counted septic
systems that exist approximately one square mile surrounding the property. Recent air
photo imagery from GoogleEarthTM was used. Each building cluster on the photo was
assumed to have one septic system. Using this method, we determined that there is a
minimum of 47 septic systems per square mile in the immediate vicinity of the Site.
The general area consists of vineyards, pasture land, and rural residential properties.
Septic Permit History in the Vicinity
Based on a recent review of septic permits on file at the San Joaquin County
Environmental Health Department for nearby properties, the septic systems in the area (3
utilize leach lines and seepage pits. The septic permits can be found in Appendix 4 of
this report.
LOGE1005 Page 2
