=17 , ,vN NO- 17- SOIL CONTAMINATION ASSESSMENT Lockeford Mini Mart RGA Project No. 10-90-104 Page 2 2.0 BACKGROUND INFORMATION 2.1 Site Setting The Beacon Ming. Mart is located on the northwest corner of Main - Street and Cherry Street (13975 Highway 88 East) in Lockeford, California. Figures 1 presents a site location map and Figure 2 shows the approximate locations of station facilities. The site _ is located in a mixed commercial and residential area of Lockeford. The property is bordered by a commercial establishment (convenience store and service station) to the southeast and private residences to the northwest and southwest. A new residential subdivision is under construction northeast of the site. The ground elevation of the site is approximately 100 feet above _.. mean sea level (MSL) . The topography slopes to the north and north west toward the Mokelumne River which is located about 4,000 feet - north of the site. Bear Creek flaws northeast to southwest approximately a mile south of the site. 2.2 Summary of Previous Work Applied GeoSystems, Inc. (AGS) of Sacramento, California had been retained previously by -Beacon oil Company and Mr. Bob Phillips of SHARIBOB, Inc. to conduct an environmental investigation at the site.. AGS submitted a report titled Subsurface Environmental F. Investigation Soil Boring and Monitoring Well Installation on July 13, 1987. This report described and documented the drilling of four soil borings, installation of four 2-inch diameter ground- water monitoring wells, monitoring well development and surveying, ground-water sampling, and the results of ground water laboratory analyses. In addition to this report, AGS has issued Quarterly Monitoring Reports on June 16, 1987, October 7, 1987, April 27, ^ 1988, July 26, 1988, and October 4, 1989. These reports described the results of ground-water sampling and documented the direction of ground-water flow at the site.
