The project design incorporates all of the State Department of Conservation's "Minimum
Verifiable Reclamation Standards" as set forth in Article 9 of Section 3700 of the State's
Surface Mining and Reclamation Act (SMARA). The A and B soil horizons will be
removed and stockpiled separately and returned in the reverse order and/or replaced
as they are taken out. Whenever possible, stockpiles will be kept to a minimum by
placing materials as mining progresses. Topsoil stockpiles left in place longer than one
mining season will be planted with a suitable cover crop mix to reduce erosion and help
maintain aeration and microbiological activity. All portions of the Traina property which
are planned to be returned to agriculture will be returned to productivity levels equal to
or greater than those which existed prior to mining.
Final reclaimed slopes will not exceed 2:1 and will be seeded with an appropriate
vegetative cover to stabilize the surface against effects of long term erosion and will be
similar to naturally occurring habitats in the surrounding area. All equipment will be
removed from the site at the conclusion of mining. No structures will be erected or
placed at the site during operations.
A performance guarantee in the form of a surety bond will be placed to ensure
reclamation is completed per the reclamation plan. The bond will be payable to San
Joaquin County and the State Geologist.
Reclamation of the site will not preclude future mining in the area, however all reserves
at the site are proposed to be harvested at the conclusion of mining.
Teichert Aggregates accepts responsibility for reclaiming the mined lands in
accordance with the reclamation plan.
8
