REQUEST <br /> To permit the removal of approximately 7,600,000 cubic yards (9 million tons) of sand <br /> and gravel from a 156.90 acre site over an estimated extraction period of six years with <br /> reclamation completed within two years of completion of extraction. In addition to a <br /> conditional use permit, an encroachment permit is required to continue crossing <br /> MacArthur Drive with scrapers to supply the existing processing facility. <br /> LOCATION AND DESCRIPTION <br /> The property is located south of Linne Road, east of MacArthur Drive, and southeast of <br /> the City of Tracy. The parcel is 156.90 acres located at 29900 South MacArthur Drive. <br /> The site is currently in agricultural production as an apricot orchard and is not obligated <br /> by a Williamson Act contract. A mobile home and barn are located on the property and <br /> will be relocated or removed prior to mining. The associated well and septic system will <br /> be abandoned according to San Joaquin County standards. <br /> Legal Description <br /> The Southwest Quarter of Section 10, Township 3 South, Range 5 East, Mount Diablo <br /> Base and Meridian. <br /> APN 253-210-15 <br /> MINING SPECIFICS <br /> Commencement of Mining: 1997 <br /> Mining Slopes: 1 '/2 : 1 reclaimed to 2:1 <br /> Setback: varies - please see attached plans <br /> Depth of Excavation: Ranges from 31 to 62 feet with an average depth of 48' <br /> Groundwater Depth: Not to be breached, estimated depth 88' <br /> AESTHETICS <br /> The orchard trees existing within the setback areas will remain wherever practicable to <br /> provide for visual screening. Additional plantings of redbud, baccharis, and oleander <br /> bushes will be planted to fill in as buffer. These plant species were chosen as they <br /> blend in with the surrounding area, do not require sustained irrigation, and are fast <br /> growing. <br /> RECLAMATION <br /> Reclamation will be to agricultural uses with production levels equal to or exceeding <br /> levels that existed prior to mining. <br /> 1 <br />
