HISTORICAL USE
The history of the subject site from as early as 1900 to present was researched by reviewing aerial
photographs, topographic maps,Pesticide Use reports and a personal interview. Based on available
information, subject property use appears to have been undevelo_ pied or agricultural land for at least
100 years. The 1968 Topographic Map first shows the subject property transected by Highway 580
and the California Aqueduct.
4.1. AERIAL PHOTOGRAPHS
Aerial photographs were utilized to determine the developmental history of the subject property and
surrounding areas.Three aerial photographs, dated 1957,1982 and 1993,were provided by EDR and
one USGS aerial photograph, dated 1993,was reviewed on the Microsoft TerraServer Internet site
(htto://terraserver.microsoft.com).The large subject property extends beyond the EDR photographs;
the EDR photographs center on the extension of MacArthur Drive.
Subject Property: The property is shown as undeveloped or agricultural land, predominately row
crops or grasses, with an ephemeral creek extending across the southeast quarter of Section 28 and
the northwest comer of Section 27 on all photographs. The 1982 and 1993 photographs show a
highway followed to the north by a canal extending across the property to the northeast/northwest.
The 1993 photographs show what appears to be a pipeline or other linear structure extending across
the northeast corner.
Surrounding Properties. Surrounding properties in all directions appear utilized for agricultural
purposes, predominately row crops or grasses. The 1982 and 1993 photographs show a highway
followed to the north by a canal then a second canal; the 1982 and 1993 photographs show what
appears to be residential complexes near the southeast and southwest corners of the property.
Aerial photographs of the subject area predating 1957 and subsequent to 1993 were not readily
available for review. No items of potential environmental concern for the subject property were
noted on the aerial photographs, such as above-ground storage tanks, dispensers, industrial ponds,
etc. If there is a pipeline extending across the corner of the property, there is a potential that there
has been subsurface contamination from pipeline leaks at the corner, but AGE has no direct evidence
that subsurface contamination has occurred. Copies of the aerial photographs are included in
Appendix B.
Advanced GwEnvironmental,Inc.
