24 May 2004
AGE-NC Project No.04-1162
4.2. USGS TOPOGRAPHIC MAPS
Developmental history of the subject property and surrounding areas was researched usinghistorical
7.5 Minute USGS Topographic Maps; one Tracy Quadrangle Map for 1916 (scale 1:31,680), one
Tracy Quadrangle Map for 1947(scale 1:50,000)and three Tracy Quadrangle Maps for 1954, 1954-
1968 and 1954-1981 (scale 1:24,000)were provided byEDR.A brief description ofthe Topographic
Maps is as follows;the property includes most of Section 27 and the eastern one-half of Section 28.
The subject property: The property is shown as undeveloped or agricultural land on all maps. The
1:24,000 scale maps show an ephemeral creek extending across the southeast quarter of Section 28
and the northwest comer of Section 27 and a pipeline extending across the northeast corner. The
1968 and 1981 photo-revised 1954 maps show a highway and the California Aqueduct extending
across the property to the northeast/northwest.
Surrounding properties: Properties are shown as undeveloped or agricultural land on all maps. The
1:24,000 scale maps show the Delta-Mendota Canal to the north of the subject property. The 1968
and 1981 photo-revised 1954 maps show a highway and the California Aqueduct.
In summary, review of the historical USGS Topographic Maps revealed no obvious features such
as service stations or tank farms,on the subject property or adjacent properties that are of significant
environmental concern. The pipeline shown on the 1954-1981 maps cuts across the property at the
northeastern corner along Chrisman Road. There is a potential that there has been subsurface
contamination from pipeline leaks at the corner, but AGE has no direct evidence that subsurface
con ammatlon has occurred.
Topographic Maps of the subject area preceding 1916 and subsequent to 1981 were not readily
available for review. Representative maps are included in Appendix B.
4.3. DIRECTORY LISTINGS
Selected Haines Directories for Northern San Joaquin Valley, issued between 1971 and 2002 and
selected Polk Directories issued between 1912 and 1969 are available at the San Joaquin County,
Cesar Chavez Library in Stockton to compile a record of occupants of the property. The directories
list information by street name, then by address.Haines Directories prior to 1971 were not available
for review;Polk Directories prior to 1912 list information by occupant and not by street.Directories
were generally reviewed in five-year increments where specific property use appeared continuous.
Based on the aerial photographs and historical information, the subject property has been
undeveloped or utilized for agricultural purposes only and has never been developed.
Advanced GwEnvironmental,Inc.
