.. 1_01
24 May 2004
AGE-NC Project No.04-1162
petroleum hydrocarbons, it has become increasingly recognized that releases of petroleum
hydrocarbons to the subsurface rarely migrate more than a few hundred feet from the point ofrelease.
Therefore, sites located more than''/a mile away normally have limited potential to impact the subj ect
property.
The CORTESE list included one site within a%Z-mile search radius of the subject property;this site
was also listed on the LUST database.
LUST Database:The LUST database is an inventory ofreported releases from underground storage
tanks (USTs). Studies suggest that petroleum hydrocarbons leaking from underground fuel tanks
rarely travel more than 250 feet from the point of release (Lawrence Livermore Laboratory,
16 October 1995), which minimizes the potential of sites with these type of releases to adversely
impact down-gradient properties;however,oxygenated fuel additives(i.e.,methyl tert-butyl ether-
MTBE)have recently been documented to migrate greater distances than petroleum hydrocarbons.
The LUST database list included one site within a'h-mile search radius of the subject property;this
site, Country Mart Texaco, 34243 South Chrisman Road, adjacent to the property to the east, was
listed as a sol -o case c osed in 1998.Based on t e soil-only release and closed status,AGE found
no indication from the EDR report or file review that this site was of environmental concern to the
subject property.
No other listings were found on databases with recognized environmental conditions within the
ASTM Standard E 1527-00 minimum search distances.
No listings on informational databases were found within the ASTM Standard E 1527-00 minimum
search distance.
Orphan Sites: Seventeen sites were on the orphan sites list, consisting of sites lacking sufficient
information for EDR to map their locations. Fourteen sites were on a database listing sites of
recognized environmental conditions;all appeared to be more than%z mile from the subject property.
Twenty sites were on informational database listings. No listed sites appeared to be the subject
property or adjacent properties. AGE found no indication that these sites are of environmental
concern to the subject property.
Public Well Information:The EDR report identified no United States Geological Survey(USGS)
wells within a'/e-mile radius of the subject property.
Oil and Gas Wells:The EDR report identified no State Oil/Gas well located within%2 to 1 mile west
of the subject property.
Advanced Geo Environmental,Inc.
