Photographs of selected features of the subject site are
included in Appendix A.
• The subject property was located southeast of the City of Tracy, San Joaquin County,
northwest of the intersection of South Chrisman Road and Vernalis Road. The property was
approximately one-mile long north-to-south and one and one-half mile long east-to-west and
was transected by Highway 580 and the California Aqueduct.
• Surrounding property use was mixed agricultural and residential use, residential complexes
were noted at the southeast and southwest corners of the property and at the intersection of
the northern property boundary at MacArthur Drive. A service station was located adjacent
to Parcel 2 along Chrisman Road.
• The subject property was undeveloped land covered in weeds and grasses at the time of the
site reconnaissance.Parcel 1 was bound by Vernalis Road to the south and Highway 580 to
the north, Parcel 2 was located between Highway 580 and the California Aqueduct and
Parcel 3 was located north of the California Aqueduct.
• The property was generally fenced.
• PARCEL 1:AGE was unable to drive through the gates along Vernalis Road;representatives
climbed the gate and walked the property.Utility work was evident along the boundary with
Vernalis Road and there was minor household debris along the road;no obvious debris was
noted along the boundary with Highway 580. Parcel 1 had a fenced dirt road along the
western boundary of Section 27; the western half-section of the property appeared to have
been used for cattle or sheep;watering or feeding containers were noted along the fence and
what appeared to be wool was found in the barbed-wire fencing.
