QX-99-2 <br /> OF GEORGE REED, INC. <br /> -------------------------------------------------- <br /> The applicants have submitted the above referenced application for a quarry excavation to <br /> remove 2.5 million tons of aggregate in two phases over twelve years. Excavated <br /> material will be extracted using a back-hoe type loader and transported along private <br /> roads by haul trucks to an existing aggregate processing plant across the Mokelumne <br /> river and about one-half mile west. The trucks will cross the river on an existing private <br /> bridge currently used for the adjacent quarry excavation to the south. The project is <br /> located in the south-west quadrant of the Mokelumne River and Mackville Road, north of <br /> Clements. <br /> The Community Development Department has reviewed the application and responses from <br /> other agencies and offers the following comments: <br /> It has been determined that the proposed project may have a significant impact on the <br /> environment. As a result, an Environmental Impact Report is being required. Attached is <br /> the Initial Study prepared for the project. The following potentially significant impacts were <br /> identified: <br /> - reduction of surface water quality <br /> - increase in risk of downstream flooding <br /> - impacts to listed species and/or habitat <br /> - reduction of air quality <br /> - noise <br /> - impacts to adjacent County park <br /> - traffic <br /> - disturbance of significant archeological and historical sites <br /> - aesthetics <br /> In order to begin preparation of the EIR, the applicant must submit an initial fee of $2,000.00 in <br /> order to prepare the Notice of Preparation (NOP). This amount will then be credited toward <br />
