7.4 Agricultural Commissioner's Records
The San Joaquin County Agricultural Commissioner's Office was contacted regarding
any agricultural use of the Site. Chemical use reports were identified for the Site under
the names of Gerard Eger and Round Valley Ranches. According to the records, 40 to
47 acres of the Site were used for growing olives from 2006 through the present. Use
reports were only identified for 2010 and 2011.
The following products were reportedly applied to the olive orchard on the Site from
2010 through the present:
Product Name Active Ingredient 2010 2011
Cuprous oxide Cuprous oxide X
Foli-Gro Calcium Calcium X
Foli-Gro Boron Boron X
Buccaneer Plus Glyphosate, X
isopropylamime salt
Rely 280 Glufosinate- X
ammonium
ZP Rodent Bait Zinc phosphide X
Nordox Cuprous oxide X
Two of the chemicals applied to the Site are included on the US EPA's list of Restricted
Use Products (2002). Additional information on these chemicals is presented below.
Cuprous oxide is an inorganic fungicide. Copper compounds in dust and powder forms
are irritating to the eyes, skin, and respiratory tract. They are toxic by ingestion to
humans and livestock (US EPA, 1999).
Zinc phosphide is an inorganic chemical used primarily as a rodent bait. Depending on
the formulation of the product, it may be slightly to highly toxic. Zinc phosphide is
broken down by the acidity in soil to form phosphine, a highly toxic gas (EXTOXNET,
1993)
Copies of the Agricultural Commissioner's records are included in Appendix 4.
7.5 Department of Oil, Gas, and Geothermal Resources Maas
The California Department of Oil, Gas, and Geothermal Resources (DOGGR) Online
Mapping System (DOMS) was queried on September 27, 2011 for mapped oil or gas
wells within one-quarter mile of the subject Site. No wells were identified.
LOGE1025 Page 6
