NOA's ability to interpret the land uses is <br /> limited by the scale and q ty of the photos. <br /> 2.3 USGS Topographic Maps <br /> r <br /> The topographic quadrangle depicting the subject property is the U.S. Geological Survey, Escalon, <br /> California, quadrangle map. One 7.5-minute map dated 1991 was available through Microsoft <br /> Terraserver. In the 1991 map, two structures are depicted in the northwest corner of the subject <br /> propety. An irrigation canal runs along the northern and eastern property lines. The subject property <br /> is depicted as agricultural land,while the adjacent land to the south is depicted as orchard. Structures <br /> are scattered along Mahon Avenue. The property is depicted at approximately 120 feet above mean sea <br /> level in an area which slopes down to twest gt-wratapproximately 10 to 20 feet(vertical)per mile <br /> L (horizontal). This map is included inAppendix C of s report <br /> 2.4 Interviews <br /> L An attempt was made to obtain historical as well as current information relative to the subject property <br /> from the property owner or key site manager of the property. An Environmental Questionnaire and <br /> L Disclosure Statement was completed by Mike Terpstra,owner of the subjectpoperry,on ap ximately <br /> October 11,2005. A copy of his responses has been included in this report as Appendix <br /> i In his responses to the questionnaire,Mr.Terpstra indicated that he acquired the property in 2004 from <br /> �. George,Betty,and Lester Van Weerdhuizen,who had owned the property approximately 15 years. To <br /> the best of his knowledge,the property has always been used to grow seasonal crops. He indicated that <br /> L John Rocha is farming the property. Mr. Terpstra was not aware of any fuel tanks, chemical storage, <br /> or chemical spills on the property. <br /> Y Mr.Terpstra was interviewed by telephone on November 23,2005,at which time he stated that he has <br /> V lived in the area for at least 20 years and used to own the property next door. He also indicated that he <br /> was good friends with the former owner of the subject property,Lester Van Weerdhuizen. Mr.Terpstra <br /> I stated that the former owner had raised pigeons, cattle, and goats near the residence on the property <br /> V and had leased the remainder of the property to John Rocha Jr., the current farmer. Mr. Rocha <br /> historically grew hay and oats on the property. <br /> `. Kelly (last name withheld), the current tenant at the residence on the property, was interviewed in <br /> person during the site visit on November 21, 2005. She indicated that she had lived in the house one <br /> year and had not observed any chemical spills or other environmental issues on the property. She stated <br /> ho that the debris in the rear yard near the pole barn had been left by the previous owner,and she had been <br /> working to remove it from the property until she ran out of dumpster space. <br /> 4 <br /> "0004 <br /> 6 <br />
