Surface and Subsurface Contamination Report Page 7
VELASQUEZ PROPERTY September 5,2008
WKA No.823 7.01
4.0 RECORDS REVIEW
The purpose of the records review was to obtain and review information concerning the current
' and historical use of the site and adjoining properties that would help identify the presence of
possible surface and/or subsurface contamination due site use and/or use of adjacent properties.
t4.2 Historical Use Information
Historical information was reviewed to develop a history of the previous uses of the site and
surrounding area, in order to evaluate the site and adjoining properties for evidence of possible
' surface and/or subsurface contamination. Historical sources reviewed during the preparation of
this report included the following, as available:
' • Sanborn®Maps
• Topographic Maps
' • Oil and Gas Well Maps
• Aerial Photographs
• Ownership Records
• Building Department Records
' • Local Street Directories
• Zoning and Land Use Records
• Other Historical Sources
' • Prior Assessments
' Discussion of these historical sources is provided in the following sections.
t4.2.1 Sanborn®Maps
WKA reviewed Sanborn Maps with coverage of the site at the California State Library, located at
the Library and Courts II Building, 900 N Street, Sacramento, California. Sanborn Maps are
detailed drawings of site development, and were typically used by fire insurance companies to
determine site fire insurability. These maps are significant research tools because they often
reveal potential hazardous materials issues on a particular site, such as automobile service
' garages, aboveground and underground fuel storage tanks. Sanborn Map coverage of the site
was not available.
