The study does identify that this site does contain elevated levels
of nitrate (168-224 ppm) in the first aquifer. The study does suggest that the soil on this site can
contribute to some denitrification of sewage effluent.
In addition, there is currently ongoing soil and groundwater monitoring related to historical fuel
tank leaks that are being regulated by California Regional Water Quality Control Board
(CRWQCB) on this site. Any development on this site cannot impact that ongoing
characterization and remediation activity in the future until cleanup has been completed. Any
building upon this site will require approval from the CRWQCB.
The use of future wells for this site will have special construction requirements and testing
requirements in accordance with San Joaquin County Well Standards and the California Safe
Drinking Water Act.
Environmental Health Department will need to evaluate each proposed development on this site
prior to issuance of building permits in order to determine that the development will fall within
the study's guidelines.
Environmental Health Department can support the proposed General Plan Amendment and Zone
Reclassification; however, future projects will require further Soil Suitability Studies and
possible mitigation measures(i.e.: Package Wastewater Treatment System).
F&M
