KLEINFELDER
that this study is being required by the San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department
(SJCEHD) as part of the proposed parcel split.
2. PRESENT AND PAST USE
r. According to Mr. Rishwain, the site has historically been used for agricultural purposes and
horse boarding. We understand that the latest agricultural use was for wheat, which was (Z.l)
harvested early this year. The northern portion of the property has been fallow since that time.
3. SEPTIC PERMITS AND PERFORMANCE
SJCEHD septic permits on file for the subject property and those parcels adjacent to the subject
property were copied. Eight septic permits were on file for the subject property and the adjacent
parcels. One of the permits was for a new septic system installation, with the others for
repairs/additions. Please see the attached table for a summary of permit information and a
description of the septic systems.
According to the Mr. Rishwain, the existing septic system s on the subject property are 33)
functioning well and, to the best of his knowledge, none of the adjacent properties require
additional septic system work to be performed at this time. No permits are on file for the
original installation of any septic systems on the subject property. These systems are used for(34)
the disposal of residential septic waste. Based on the repair permits on file with SJCEHD, it
appears that many of the septic systems in the immediate vicinity of the subject property have 0-6)
had additional leach lines/seepage pits added.
4. GROUNDWATER
During the time of our investigation, groundwater was not encountered. Lines of Equal Depth to
Groundwater contour maps published in groundwater reports by the San Joaquin County Flood
Control and Water Conservation District show groundwater levels in the project area ranging
` from about 45 to 80 feet below ground surface from Spring 1981 to Spring 1999. Based on
Equal Elevation of Groundwater maps, the general groundwater gradient is from east to west,
with a very low gradient. Local gradient variations may be present due to well usage.
Groundwater at the site has been used for residential use and pasture/agricultural land irrigation.
Future groundwater use would probably be non-existent, unless municipal wells are to be located
in the project vicinity. In that situation, future use would include residential use for the proposed .2)
single-family homes after the property is annexed by the city.
We do not know of any existing and/or potential groundwater contamination issues in the project
vicinity. There are no existing gas stations or dairies adjacent to the property, although a set of 2
railroad tracks are located along the wester boundary of the property. Railroad tracks often
have pipelines or utilities running adjacent to them in the railroad right-of-way, however we have
V, 36012.G01/ST03R1749 November 20,2003
©2003 Klemfelder,Inc.
