28 May 2003
AGE-NC Project No. 03-1028
The CORTESE list included five sites within a Ya-mile search radius ofthe subject property;all sites were
also listed on the LUST database.
LUST Database: The LUST database is an inventory of reported releases from underground storage
tanks(USTs). Studies suggest that petroleum hydrocarbons leaking from underground fuel tanks rarely
travel more than 250 feet from the point of release(Lawrence Livermore Laboratory, 16 October 1995),
which minimizes the potential of sites with these type of releases to adversely impact down-gradient
properties;however,oxygenated fuel additives(i.e.,methyl tert-butyl ether-MTBE)have recently been
documented to migrate greater distances than petroleum hydrocarbons.
The LUST database list included nine sites within a Y2-mile search radius of the subject property;none
of the sites were adjacent properties and all were closed sites.
Based on the closed status and distance from the property,AGE found no indication from the EDR report
that these sites are of environmental concern to the subject property.
Search Radius:Adiacent Properties
CHNURS Database: The CICS database contains lists of unauthorized releases of oils and
hazardous substances,typically from spills.
The CICS list did not include adjacent properties.
ERNS Database:The Emergency Response Notification System(ERNS)is a national database used to
collect information on reported releases of oil and hazardous substances.
The ERNS list included one site noted as McAllen Rd and Calaveras River; no information was listed
for this entry and no database of environmental concern lists this site.AGE has insufficient information
to comment on this database entry.
FINDS Database: The FINDS database (Facility Index System) contains references to records from
other governmental databases. Note that the database may contain references to out-of-date records
formerly associated with a site.
The FINDS list did not include adjacent properties.
Advanced Geo Environmental,Inc.
