The school bond approved by the community in the November 2002
election specifically addresses infrastructure, cafeterias, bathrooms,
multipurpose areas, and specifically does not address the addition of
classroom space for increased student population. Despite our efforts
locally, the District is not in a position financially to accommodate
growth in the student population caused by housing developments.
The District proposes that the proposed subdivision be annexed into the
existing Community Facilities District established to serve school
mitigation agreements. The developer would be allowed to delay the
developer fee portion of the agreement to close of escrow, and the
remainder of the mitigation amount would be received by way of a 29
year tax on the home, for approximately $551 per year.
It is urgent that we establish communication regarding school mitigation.
Until we have a satisfactory agreement for both parties, the district may
be forced to oppose this development and all future housing
developments.
