The other fourteen(14)permits were for new pit installations twenty-
five(25) feet deep varying in diameter from 33"to 48"with leach lines leading to them
varying from thirty-five(35)to one hundred(100) feet in length.
Seven of the permits reviewed listed the soil as adobe. One permit listed the soil
as.clay and another as sandy loam. Six of the permits did not list any soil classification.
No permits were found for repairing any septic installation subsequent to its initial
construction.
The Subject property does not appear to have any likely contamination from a
septic point of view.
Possible Chemical Contamination: If there would be any chemical contamination on
the subject property it would most likely come from agricultural operations using ,
pesticides and herbicides. However, it a ears that no agricultural products have been
produced on this property for quite awhile.
San JoaquinCounty Agricultural Commissioner's Office Files Chemical Search:
The San Joaquin County Agricultural Commissioner's Office was requested to access
their files and report any pesticide and/or herbicide applications submitted over the last
five years. The County Agricultural Commissioner's Office reported that no records
were found for placing pesticides and herbicides by the property owner on the subject
property. This information is contained in their letter dated May 10, 2001, which is
attached to and made a part of this report.
Mitigation Measures: Since only a few animals were found on the subject property,no
excessive nitrate concentrations are anticipated from an animal overpopulation is
apparent. However, since nearby Micke Grove Park has experienced excessive nitrate
concentrations in well water tests conducted there, it is recommended that the well water
on the subject property be tested for nitrates and DBCP.
Also there appears to be no contamination being generated from the septic system
that has been installed on the subject property; so no recommendations are made from a
sanitary septic system point of view.
Continuing the present type conditions on any of the listed parcels and at the
present home and the proposed future manufactured home are not expected to impact
groundwater nor cause other health hazards.
Walter E.
