Environmental Health Division's requirements for septic tank design or construction
standards.
6.3.1 Assumptions for the Phase 2 Expansion
This subsection presents assumptions for the Phase 2 expansion of the property.
The assumptions are used in the calculations of liquid and nitrogen loading presented in
Appendix F. The assumptions for the Phase 2 expansion are as follows:
• The liquid loading rate is 45 gallons/person-day;
• The nitrogen loading rate is 11 .5 g N/person-day;
• Maximum church gatherings will not exceed 250 people. The associated
waste will result in liquid and nitrogen loading equivalent to 0.5 day (i.e.,
22.5 gallons/person and 5.75 g N/person) for those 250 people on the day
of that gathering;
• Four people will occupy the facility 5 days per week from 8:00 A.M.; until
5:00 P.M. The associated waste will result in liquid and nitrogen loading
equivalent to 0.75 person/day (i.e., 33.75 gallons/person-day, and 8.63 g
N/person-day) for those 5 days; and
• One additional gathering of 25 people will occur one evening per week. The
associated waste will result in liquid and nitrogen loading equivalent to 0.25
person/day (i.e., 11 .5 gallons/person, and 2.88 g N/person) for that
evening.
6.3.2 Liquid Loading — Phase 2 Expansion
Based on the assumptions presented above, estimates for the liquid loading were
calculated as shown in Appendix F. The Phase 1 liquid loading was estimated as
approximately 2,025 gallons/week. The larger gathering which will accommodate 250
people should produce an average of approximately 6,525 gallons/week.
6.3.3 Nitrogen Loading — Phase 2 Expansion
Based on the assumptions listed in Section 6.3.1 , nitrogen loading calculations for
the Phase 2 expansion were completed and are included in Appendix F. The total
nitrogen loading for one week is estimated at 1 .68 kilograms (3.7 pounds) of total
nitrogen. On an annual basis, this would total 192 pounds of total nitrogen.
SAC 125.12 1 1
DAMES & MOORE
