EXISTING CONDITIONS
Middle Road within the study area, is a two-lane east-west facility that would provide project access with
the development of the project. Middle Road intersects with Lammers Road just west of the project site,
and forms a T-intersection with Naglee Road on the eastern side of the project site. At both of these
intersections, the Middle Road approaches are stop-sign controlled.
Lammers Road within the study area, is a two-lane north-south facility that runs just west of the project
site. Lammers Road forms a four-way intersection with Middle Road just north of the project site, and
fortes a T-intersection with Grant Line Road south of the project site. The Lammers Road approach is
stop sign controlled at the Grant Line Road intersection. The Lammers Road approaches are
uncontrolled at the intersection with Middle Road.
Naglee Road within the study area, is a north/south two-lane roadway that runs on the eastern side of the
project site. In the north, Naglee Road meets Middle Road at a T-intersection and in the south, Naglee
Road curves to the west to meet Grant Line Road at a major signalized intersection. Naglee Road also
forms mid-block intersections with Interstate 205 ramps.
Grant Line Road is a major roadway that runs east-west, on the southern side of the project site. On
the west, Grant Line Road begins from Byron Road and runs eastward to meet Lammers Road at a T-
intersection and runs further east to meet Naglee Road/I-205 on-ramp at a major signalized
intersection. Grant Line Road extends further east as an I-205 over-crossing.
Interstate 205 is a major freeway facility bringing traffic into and out of the study area. Interstate 205
meets Interstate 580 on the western side and Interstate 5 on the eastern side of the project site.
EXISTING TRAFFIC VOLUMES
In this report, the critical time periods analyzed for traffic impacts are:
• Weekday AM and PM peak hours with and without the project (critical for determining
intersection and roadway operations).
• Sunday peak hour of project trip generation with the development of the project (critical for
determining project driveway operations and driveway intersection operations).
A "typical" weekday was chosen for performing AM and PM peak hour field traffic counts. Intersection
turning movement traffic volume counts were conducted by OMNI-MEANS on January 13, 1998
(Tuesday). The AM peak hour refers to one hour of peak traffic volume occurring between 7:00 A.M.
and 9:00 A.M. and the PM peak hour refers to one hour of peak traffic volume occurring between 4:00
P.M. and 6:00 P.M. For the study intersections, the existing weekday "AM peak hour" occurs between
7:00 A.M and 8:00 A.M. and the existing weekday "PM peak hour" occurs between 5:00 P.M. and 6:00
` P.M. Figure 3A illustrates the weekday AM and PM peak hour turning movement volumes at all
intersections within the study area considered critical and requiring analysis.
Trinity Baptist Oturch Project Page 4
Traffic Study
