CLOSURE SUMMARY REPORT
August 1995
Parrish & Sons, Inc.
2905 East Miner Avenue, Stockton, California
1.0. INTRODUCTION
In accordance with a request from Parrish & Sons, Inc. (PSI), Advanced GeoEnvironmental, Inc.
(AGE) has prepared this Closure Summary Report(CSR)for the property located at 2905 East Miner
Avenue in Stockton, California(the site). The CSR is prepared in accordance with recommendations
for investigation of underground storage tank (UST) sites of the Tri-Regional Board - Appendices
A and B. The location of the site is illustrated,in Figure 1. A plan of the site is illustrated in Figure
2.
2.0. BACKGROUND
2.1. SITE DESCRIPTION
The site is located in a flat industrial/residential area of east-central Stockton(Figure 1). The property
is presently vacant. PSI, a drilling and septic system contractor, occupied the property until the late
1980s.
2.2. UNDERGROUND STORAGE TANK REMOVAL
One 10,000-gallon regular gasoline UST was removed from the site in September 1989 by PSI. No
soil samples were collected at the time of removal because the backhoe used to remove the UST was
leaking hydraulic fluid, potentially causing cross contamination of soil samples. However, two soil
samples (1-East and 1-West) were collected from the UST excavation on 13 October 1989. The
samples were collected by representatives of Canonie Environmental and transported under chain-of-
custody to Canonie's laboratory in Stockton. Each sample was analyzed for total petroleum
hydrocarbons quantified as gasoline(TPH-g)and volatile aromatics (benzene, toluene, ethyl benzene
and xylenes: BTE&X in accordance with EPA methods 5030 and 8020, respectively and for ethylene
dibromide (EDB) and organic lead in accordance with DOHS methods.
TPH-g and xylenes were detected in sample 1-East at concentrations of 150 parts per million (ppm)
and 3 ppm, respectively. No petroleum hydrocarbons, EDB or organic lead were detected in sample
1-West. Analytical results of the soil samples are included in Table 1. The laboratory report and
chain-of-custody form are included in Appendix A.
_ After collection of soil samples in October 1989, the excavation was backfilled with soil from the
UST removal.
