DON D'AMICO
Regional Environmental Manager
California. The hazardous materials noted during the surveys included asbestos, lead-
based paint, polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), chlorofluorcarbons, and mercury.
After completion of the surveys, Mr. D'Amico was involved in the preparation of
Asbestos Abatement Specifications for the removal of the asbestos-containing
materials identified during the surveys. The specifications also included the proper
removal and handling procedures for other hazardous materials located on the site.
Hazardous Materials Surveys, City of Stockton, Parks and Recreation, Stockton,
.. California. As a certified asbestos consultant and lead supervisor, Mr. D'Amico was
the project manager for performing hazardous material surveys for several city owned
Park and Recreation Swimming facilities and baseball stadium. The hazardous
materials noted during the surveys included asbestos, lead based paint, and PCBs.
The project required site reconnaissance, coordination with the project architect, and
several sub-contractors for the preparation of the hazardous materials abatement
project specifications related to remodeling. Kleinfelder coordinated extensively with
the selected abatement contractor and local air quality management district to assure
that abatement of the ACMs and LBPs were conducted efficiently. Mr. D'Amico
provided project management oversight of Kleinfelder's asbestos technicians during
final clearance air monitoring activities during the project.
Asbestos/Lead Survey, Project Specifications for Abatement, Project Oversight,
Former Montgomery Wards buildings, Oakland, California. This seven month
project required review of a prior asbestos/lead survey, conducting additional
sampling, and preparation of project specifications for asbestos/lead paint abatement
for complete building demolition. The buildings on site included four eight-story, one
four-story mail order house and a two-story addition. The buildings were constructed
in the 1920s through 1956. The project was unique in that it utilized new state-of-the
art techniques and equipment via high pressure blasting to facilitate the removal of
lead based paint from both the interior and exterior of the buildings. In addition, strict
clearance criteria were utilized during the project since concrete from the buildings
was to be recycled on site after building demolition.
Privileged & Confidential Attorney-Client Project, Oxnard, California. Provided
third party oversight in order to evaluate the asbestos cleanup abatement and
decontamination performed by the building owner's asbestos consultant and
abatement contractor. The asbestos contamination resulted from seismic upgrade
work under taken by the building owner. Mr. D'Amico's role included work plan
review, consultant air monitoring data review, review and evaluation of the work at
critical junctures, and collection of independent confirmation Transmission Electron
Microscopy air samples after the building owner's consultant cleared and released for
reoccupancy each impacted work area.
D'AmicoD (12/01) 3
