k4 KLEINFELDER
SOIL SUITABILITY AND NITRATE LOADING STUDY
19898 SOUTH JACK TONE ROAD
SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY, CALIFORNIA
1. GENERAL
Kleinfelder is pleased to present the results of our soil suitability and nitrate loading
study for the proposed single family residence to be locatey near Ripon, California.
The Assessor's Parcel Number of the property is 245-160-03'. A site plan showing the
%2 approximate site boundaries is presented on Plate 1. The purpose of our study was to
L determine the suitability of the property for septic tank usage. The study was
performed in general accordance to the requirements of Section 9-10100© of San
Joaquin County Ordinance. The following sections include background information
regarding the project site and the proposed development, past and present uses of the
site, existing septic tank performance and permitting, and the groundwater conditions
in the project area. In addition, discussions regarding our investigative procedures
and the site conditions encountered during our field exploration are included. Finally,
the results of our percolation tests, nitrate loading calculations, and subsequent
conclusions are presented.
2. SITE DESCRIPTION / PROPOSED DEVELOPMENT
At the time of our study, the subject 18-acre parcel was occupied by an almond
/ % orchard. A wind machine and irrigation well were located near the center of the
property, a dirt road extended along its north side, and a concrete irrigation control
structure were located in the eastern portion. Two sheds were located near the
southwest corner of the property, along with scattered woodpiles. The site was bound
to the north by an orchard, a shed and a residence; to the northeast by an irrigation
canal; and to the east by a fallow agricultural field. The area south of the site was an
orchard with two residences and Jack Tone Road bounded the site to the west. The
/- existing parcel is zoned AG-40 (General Agriculture). An aerial photograph (1993)
showing the site is presented on Plate 2.
a On a preliminary basis, we understand that a single-family residence will be
constructed on the subject property. Appurtenant construction will include a paved
interior street, various concrete flatwork, and buried utilities. We anticipate the
proposed home will be a one story, wood frame structure with shallow spread
` foundations and a concrete slab-on-grade floor system. A map showing the
approximate location of the proposed structure, septic/leach field, and well is
presented on Plate 3.
We understand that the proposed residence will have an on-site septic tank/leach field
system.
