PRESENT AND PAST USE <br /> The project site is currently used as an almond orchard. The only structures know to <br /> a/ have existed on the parcel are two sheds, a concrete irrigation structure, a wind <br /> machine, and an irrigation well. Based on an aerial photograph review, the site <br /> appears to have been used for agriculture for at least the past 40 years. At this time, <br /> L we know of no other past uses of the site. <br /> 4. SEPTIC PERMITS AND PERFORMANCE <br /> 3, 1 SJCEHD files were searched to identify septic and well permits at parcels in the <br /> project vicinit�"�There were no permits on file for the subject parcel. Ten septic <br /> permits were reviewed for arcels located adjacent to or near the subject property. <br /> 3.3 ese permits were for new installations and repairs/additions to existing septic <br /> 3 y systems. The permitted sewage disposal systems were for conventional septic <br /> 3 tank/leach field systems, none with seepage pits. A summary of the permit information <br /> 7 is presented on Plate 4, and copies of the permits are attached. <br /> 5. FIELD INVESTIGATION ( J � ) e �� / �j. :J`6___ - -7 <br /> In order to evaluate the subsurface conditions at the project site, on June 14, 2005, <br /> one soil profile boring was drilled within the proposed lead field area to a depth of <br /> L about 10 feet below existing site grade. The boring was drilled using a Simco 2400 <br /> truck-mounted drill rig equipped with 6-inch O.D. solid-stem auger. The approximate <br /> boring location is presented on Plate 1. A representative with our firm maintained a <br /> P log of the boring and visually classified the soils encountered according to the Unified <br /> Soil Classification System (see Plate 5). A key to the Log of Boring is presented on <br /> Plate 6, and the Log of Boring is presented on Plate 7. <br /> Following completion of the soil profile boring, percolation test holes P-1 and P-2 were <br /> installed within the proposed leach field area at depths of about 3 and 7 feet below site <br /> grade, respectively. The approximate percolation test hole locations are also <br /> presented on Plate 3. Following drilling, the sides of the test holes were scored, and <br /> significant loose material was removed from the bottom of the hole. The percolation <br /> L tests were then prepared by first placing about 2 inches of fine gravel at the bottom of <br /> the holes and installing a 4-inch diameter, perforated PVC pipe.
