Two separate analysis were performed; 1)using rain fall, septic system
waste water and process waste water, and 2)using only rain and septic system waste water. The
following table presents the calculations and results of the nitrate loading based on two (2)
scenarios.
t_
Table 9, Nitrogen Balance.
Sources: Deep Percolation of Rain,Septic Effluent and Process Wastewater.
Concentration Weight
Volume Volume As Nitrogen As Nitrogen
Annual Average (Gallons) (Liters) (Milligrams/Liter) (Milligrams)
Deep Pere.Rain: 6,061,067 22,941,139 0.17 3,899,994
Septic: 415,661 1,573,277 35 55,064,691
r Wastewater: 5,509,487 20,853,408 6.71 . , 139,926,370
Total(Liters): 45,367,824 Total(Milligrams): 198,891,0554,,
Result: 1t0a:. (
Milligrams/Liters= 4.38 mg/L No Denitrification
Milligrarns/Liters x(1-0.25)= 3.29 mg/L With 25%Denitrification
Table 10,Nitrogen Balance.
Sources: Deep Percolation of Rain and Septic Effluent(No Process Wastewater).
. Concentration Weight
Volume Volume As Nitrogen As Nitrogen
Annual Average (Gallons) (Liters) (11 illiorams/Liter) (Milligrams)
Deep Perc.Rain: 6,061,067 22,941,139 0.17 3,899,994
Septic: 415,661 1,573,277 35 55,064,691
Wastewater: - - - -
Total(Liters): 24,514,415 Total(Milligrams): 58,964,685
Result:
Milligrams/Liters= 2.41 mg/L No Denitrification
r Milligrams/Liters x(1-0.25)= 1.80 mg/L With 25%Denitrification
The resulting nitrogen balance which considered rainfall, septic effluent, and process
` waste water produced an average concentration between 4.38 to 3.29 mg/L-N depending on the
effectiveness of denitrification. A second analysis was performed which considers only deep
percolation of septic effluent and deep percolation of rain fall.
