%W %ftvol *../
IND
December 16,2003
Job Number:LG03-304
Page 3
ke
We understand from Mrs. Graves that the house was built in 1916. The home uses an old septic
system which has a redwood tank and two leach lines. The property was purchased from Herb
` Lattin in 1986. An almond orchard had existed in the 1960's when it was part of a larger parcel.
Mrs. Graves believes the site was a dairy prior to the almond orchard, probably in the 1950's.
One of the barns contains dairy processing equipment. Based on this information, it is our
opinion that the historic site uses include an almond orchard and possibly a dairy.
` Historical information regarding the site was provided to us by Mrs. Graves and by the septic
and water well permit search process. This information is limited and was obtained during the
coarse of this investigation at various times. It is our opinion that any additional historic
information which may be available for the site is beyond the scope of the soil suitability report.
2.2 Vicinity Use
r
By examination of a 1993 aerial photograph, the vicinity surrounding the site is essentially
pasture land, fallow agricultural land, and orchards (www.terraserver.microsoft.com, 2003).
` Nearly every parcel appears to contain a residence. A count of building clusters for 1 square
surrounding the site indicates there are 41 building clusters. It is assumed the septic system
density for 1993 was about 41 septic systems per square mile.
3.0 EXISTING AND PROPOSED SEPTIC TANK USAGE
3.1 Existing On-Site Septic Tank Usage
` Mr. Graves believes the existing septic system is very old and may the original home septic
system. The tank is redwood construction and it is thought that two 40 foot leach lines exist due
_ to coinciding grass growth in the summer months. No septic system repair permits for this system
were available from the files of the EHD.
3.2 Site Septic and Septic Repair Permit History
No records of septic system repairs for the subject property were found during file review at EHD
` in November, 2003. Two well repair permits were located for the subject property and copies are
attached in the appendix.
pE RSO
P 'f
` Z
O
P
Sso
