I
Surface &Subsurface Contamination Report Page 3
Sandhu Project
Project No. 597.1 +
February 12, 2009
suggest chemicals have been spilled to impact the gravel or underlying soil.
Insofar as could be determined, the storage and use of pesticides is conducted in
accordance with regulations and manufacturers guidelines.
The site is further described in Section 4.0. See also the maps in Appendix A,
andphotos in Appendix B for graphical information.
Past Use (Property
The past use of the Property has been entirely agricultural. Historical air
p otos (Appendix C) suggest the initial use of the Property was as pasture land,
and the 1937 air photo (see Appendix C) shows this use. The same photo also
indicates the presence of a former farm building complex near the center of the
Property. The complex appears to have consisted of a house, two barns, and
several small sheds. By 1952, the land had been converted for use to raise row
or grain crops, and this use continued up to 2008. The farm-building complex
visible in the 1937 air photo was mostly demolished prior to 1963. Between the
mid 1960's and 2008, there apparently were no structures on the Property. No
other details were found regarding the former building complex.
Environmental Conditions Impacting Site from Off Site Properties
As a part of this investigation, EDR was contracted to perform a search of State
and Federal electronic environmental databases for an area around the subject
Property (see Section 3.1 and Appendix D). The Property was not identified in
the EDR database report. The only nearby site identified within the search
radius is the Banta-Carbona Canal District at 26815 Kasson Road. This site is
on the opposite (west) side of Kasson Road from the subject Property. The site is
identified as a facility that formerly operated an underground fuel tank and
disposed of a small quantity of hazardous waste. There is no report of an
unauthorized release of hazardous materials.
Based on the results of the EDR report, it was not deemed necessary to further
investigate off-site facilities.
Conclusions
Present Us of Property
The cur en and recent uses of the Property as agricultural land to grow orchard
tre:;1nd earlier, for row or grain crops, appear unlikely to have impacted the
Property with a Recognized Environmental Condition (see Section 1.0 for a
definition) except as follows:
2937 Veneman Ave.,#5240 Geo-Phase Environmental Inc.
