drum. A worker, interviewed below, was repairing a vehicle nearby. On the south side
of the shop, an old trailer, an approximately 500-gallon above=ground storage tank
which did not appear to be in use, two tractor tires, and 14 drums were observed. Two
of the drums were labeled as containing contained Rimula Engine Oil, two as 76
Hydraulic Tractor Fluid, three as Inter-State Ultra 400 15W-40, and one as Turbine Oil.
The remaining drums were unlabeled. Paint cans and other debris were observed
inside the old trailer.
To the northeast of the shop, two above-ground storage tanks were observed which
appeared to be 10,000 and 1,000 gallons in size.
Between the shop and the storage building to the northeast, metal debris and four
mostly-full burn barrels were noted. Six or more small soil stains were observed in this
area. One drum and one approximately 55-gallon tank were observed on the southwest
side of the storage building. Inside the storage building, numerous plastic drums and
smaller plastic containers were observed, as well as packaging from agricultural
chemicals. The storage building had a wooden floor. To the northeast of the storage
building, surface debris was present, including two appliances, seven drums, 11
automotive batteries, and three buckets of automotive parts.
To the north of the storage building were two large plastic tanks labeled "Wilbur-Ellis."
Farther to the northeast was the silo, which appeared to be empty. To the southwest of
the silo was an area of wood debris. To the northwest of the silo was a pile of broken
concrete irrigation pipe. Two mobile sprayer tanks were observed between the silo and
the storage building. A small soil stain was observed to the northwest of the wood
debris area.
The northern shop building is a shade structure with a dirt floor; it appears to be used
for parking farm equipment, including mobile spray tanks. Two automotive batteries
were observed outside the shop.
To the northeast of the northern shop were three small trailers which appeared to be
occupied. Further northeast was the domestic well, followed by a mobile home. It was
noted that wash water was discharging to a ditch to the southeast of the trailers, near
the above-ground storage tanks. The second mobile home was located to the
southwest of the southern shop.
A total of 11 pole-mounted transformers were observed on the Site, one at the northeast
corner, one along Kasson Road, six at the pumps by the southern ponds, and three in
the residential and shop area. All appeared relatively new, and at least one was labeled
with a blue sticker indicating it is free of polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs).
The adjacent properties are primarily open agricultural land. To the immediate west of
the structure area is a farm equipment storage area for the adjacent parcel. The New
LOGE 1115 Page 4
