Pedestrian Aecess. Village Centers shall he easily accessible from <br /> surrounding neighborhoods by pedestrians and bicycles,and shall <br /> incorporate the following elements,to the extent Feasible: <br /> • Pedestrian walkways through parking areas, <br /> • Direct con nectiana of pedestrian walks from storefronts to adjacent <br /> streets, <br /> Pedestrian"breezewayrs"or access streets Connecting through or <br /> between buildings to residential areas adjacent to the Village Canter site, <br /> • Direct pedestrian access from transit stops to storefronts,and <br /> a Shorefronts of buildings facing surrounding streets. <br /> 11. Build inst Vesign. All commercial buildings should express a clear sense of <br /> ell try, and should be sited with the primary facades oriented to sidewalks <br /> adjacent to streets,for direct pedestrian access. In general,the placement, <br /> massing, and scale of buildings shall be oriented to pedestrians and <br /> connections to transit. To the extent passible,buildings shall be located <br /> with entries and primary facades facing the public streets,with parking and <br /> loading areais to the sides or rear. <br /> Each Village Center shall display a unified design with an architectural <br /> theme to be utilized throughout the site. Building massing in Village Centers <br /> may vary, but shall rein Force one or mare focal areas,emphasizing <br /> pedestrian use. <br /> 12, Landscape Design. The landscape concept for commercial and industrial <br /> areas shall emphasize the consistent treatment of street corridors,the <br /> placement of vertical accent tree plantings at parcef entries and to <br /> demarcate large single-user parcels,and the planting of vertical trees at <br /> major use areas. In commercial and industrial areas,accent trees shall be <br /> used in groups or regular groves at building entries,patios,courtyards, <br /> employee gathering areas or other special areas.
