THOMING PROPERTY
Page No. 3
There is a domestic water well located near the existing
mobile home. This well was sampled on July 14, 1995 and tested for
the presence of nitrates and dibromochloropropane (DBCP) . Test
results indicated that DBCP was non-detected and the level of
nitrate was 31 mg/1, which is below the Maximum Contaminate Level
(MCL) of 45 mg/l . A copy of the test results are included in the
Appendix.
VI . SOIL PROFILE AND PERCOLATION TESTS
Two test holes were excavated to a depth of 10 feet in the
area of the existing and proposed homesite in order to determine
the soil profile in the general area. For approximate location of
the test holes (PT) see the Parcel Map in the Appendix. The soil
profile holes were logged by an engineer and a description of the
soils encountered in the holes is contained in the Appendix. The
surface soil consisted of a brown clayey silt. The surface soil
was underlain by a tan silt which continued to the maximum depth
explored. For a more detailed description of the soils encountered
see the log of test holes.
Shallow ( 36" deep) percolation tests were performed at the
test hole locations. 4. 5 inch diameter holes were excavated and 2
inches of gravel was placed in the bottom of each hole. Two inch
diameter perforated pipes were then placed and backfilled with
gravel . The test holes were filled with water 24 hours prior to
running the tests. The last half hour of the test readings were
witnessed by a county health official and the test data obtained is
enclosed in the appendix. The percolation rates have been adjusted
to account for the gravel and pipe backfill. Calculations for this
adjustment is on the test data sheets.
A summary of the test results is presented next:
Diameter of Depth of
Test No. Hole (in. ) Hole (in. ) Percolation Rate (min/in)
PT-1 4 36 31
PT-2 4 48 8 . 3
I;,ose _
