In a letter dated January 30, 2002,the Northern Valley Yokut Tribe states that the proposed — <br /> project is in an area near Hospital Creek and the Delta Mendota canal where the potential <br /> discoveries of Native American burials is high. The Northern Valley Yokut Tribe is <br /> requesting an EIR for the Proposed project. This is a potentially significant impact. — <br /> 14a. Cumulative <br /> Potential cumulative impacts exist for the project. These impacts include; air quality,traffic, <br /> noise, groundwater, and loss of agricultural land. <br /> 16 a.,b., c.,d. <br /> The Initial Study has identified several areas where the proposed project may have <br /> significant impacts. These include water quality, water quantity, water level, stream <br /> alteration, air quality,noise,cultural resources,slope stability, and traffic. <br /> Based upon this it can be concluded that the project may adversely impact the environment, <br /> achieving the short-term goal of sand and gravel extraction at the long run cost of the <br /> environment. Therefore an Environmental Impact Report shall be prepared. <br /> 4 <br />
