I
v .1
i
6 November 18, 2004
NOA Project Number: E04130A
Ldrains into Goose Creek.
One paved road crosses the northern portion of the subject property. There was a dirt access road
surrounding the vineyard, and another dirt road that ran from the northeastern corner of the
property to the paved road.
There was a pole barn on the property that houses the 1,000 gallon above ground fuel tank, water
6. filters and the well. The structure has no heating or cooling system. The above grrpund fuel tank was
observed to be within a catch basin. No staining or odors were observed near the fuel tank.
Another above ground storage tank was observed on the eastern edge of the property. It was
located within secondary containment. No staining or odors were observed, near the fuel tank.
6. No transformers were observed on or near the property.
Surrounding properties were surveyed at the time of the site reconnaissance. To the north of the
L subject property the land was used as a vineyard. To the west the land was bare grassland. To the
east the land was used as an orchard. The land to the south was bare land with a few agricultural
related structures.
L
/3.2 3.2 Past On-Site Sources of Contamination
LNo potential above-or below-ground on-site potential or known sources of contamination were
identified from past uses of the site, except for the following:
L Because of past agricultural use, there is possible petroleum contamination from fueling and
spilling of the tank, and possible agricultural chemical contamination due to chemical mixing
Land application.
• Paraquat, a Restricted Use Pesticide in EPA toxicity class I (highly toxic),with a half-life in
soil of greater than 1,000 days, was applied to the vineyards in 2002.
O 3.3 Current On-Site Sources of Contamination
` No above- or below-ground on-site potential or known sources of contamination were identified
from current uses of the site, except for the following:
LThe above-ground storage tanks may possibly cause contamination during tank fueling or
spillage from over filling, though it is unlikely because both tanks are located in secondary
t containment.
L
• Because of past agricultural use, there is possible petroleum contamination from fueling and
spilling of the tank, and possible agricultural chemical contamination due to chemical mixing
V
7
