Frinformation
will travel to the septic tanks, with effluent flow from the tanks, the following Gj
escribes the operation of the septic system for both the residenriyAl-sE>acture and the
ery: Influen the house will gravity flow into an existing',1,200 g llon tank. ee
end from s tank n a southwest direction. The tightline fromhis-tatik will be mute
to gravity flow to a ne 2,0 llon, single compartment septic tank, with filtration. Winery influent
will also gravity flow t . The combination of the winery and residential domestic wastes
will gravity to an existin 1,600 allon, two compartment tank. The second compartment of the 1,600
gallon tank is to be the pu amber to pressurize the effluent for even distribution throughout the
filter bed.
This residential 1,200 gallon tank and the 2,000 gallon combination tank will provide preliminary
treatment and trap paper, etc. The tank must be pumped on a prescribed interval basis ding on
direct observations of paper and scum accumulation; e.g., every nths to eve three years,
depending on sludge/scum accumulation.
Peaking factors for users on septic tanks vary with usage during the hour of the day, and day of the
week. Peak hourly rates are associated with normal working hours. The ratio of the peak day to the
average day can vary from 1.5 to >5, depending upon the usage. However, peaking factors are not as
relevant since the effluent pump will dose on demand. A peaking factor of 2.5 (average between 0
and 5)will be used in the calculation below:
Septic Tank Hydraulic Detention Time
Detention Time= 1,200 Residential Tank+2,000 Combination Residential and Winery Tank+ 1600 Pump Chamber Tank x 0.70
(30%volume lost to sludge/scum accumulation)+ 2.5(Peaking Factor)x 540 gals/day ADF
Detention Time=2.5 days. The minimum acceptable detention time is 1.0 days. Therefore, the
septic tankage volume is adequate.
Wastewater Disposal System Parameters and Appurtenances
Infiltrator Chambers: Quick 4 Standard ChamberTM: 34"x 52"x 12"; Filter Bed=240" (20'wide)-34" width+
6" spacings =40 inches. 240" =40" =6 Chambers wide.
