The main concept is to collect our
existing wastewater in our concrete storage tanks, pre-treat the water with select bacteria
to reduce COD, BOD and nitrates, discharge to a double lined pond for aeration and
evaporation, and then apply to alfalfa for irrigation. We have been working closely with
the State RWQCB, S.J County Health Dept., Neil Anderson and Associates and Mike
Smith Engineering to develop an approach acceptable to all parties.
We would propose adding one additional pond this year and two more ponds over the
next two, years as necessary to accept and treat other small winery process water. Each
pond would have the capacity to handle 750,000 gallons of process water yearly.
Through the use of pre-treatment bacteria and aggressive aeration in the ponds, all odors
will be eliminated. All solids remaining after treatment would be profiled for proper
disposal, or used for fertilizer on our alfalfa, or used as amendments in Kellogg's Garden
Products next door.
Please call me if you have any questions or need additional information.
Sincere
0
0 it
c iie
Principal
