LK E/NFELDER
.r enynxror..n;ynexmao,.
6. Two diesel AST's were located on the southeast border of the dairy. One
was located on an above ground cradle and one was located on wooden
blocks on the ground. Two mobile AST's are located south of the milk barn.
There did not appear to be any leaking, staining or stressed vegetation
associated with the tanks. This conclusion regarding soil staining has
changed regarding the two mentioned diesel ASTs. Some staining was
noted near the two diesel ASTs and soil staining was noted near a cement
pad near a generator associated with one of the two ASTs.
A Diesel AST in an above ground cradle was noted in the center of APN
205-100-17. Three diesel AST's in above ground cradles are located north
of the milk barn. Soil staining was noted at the base of the tanks. This
conclusion essentially remains the same in regards to soil staining noted in
these areas. However, the diesel AST was no longer noted on APN 205-
100-17. One of the three diesel ASTs was noted as containing gasoline.
i
An AST of disinfectant for the cow udders was located south of the dairy
cows. The AST does not appear to pose an environmental concern to the
site. This conclusion remains the same.
Two AST's are located in the western portion of the dairy. According to Mr.
Dotinga, one tank was previously used to store molasses and one tank is a
whey tank containing a corn liquid product. Based on this information,
these two AST's do not appear to pose an environmental concern to the
site. This conclusion remains the same.
A large AST was located in the open area between the barns and sheds in
the southwestern portion of the site (central farmhouse/residential area on
the northern parcel]. According to Mr. Dotinga, the AST was a former diesel
fuel AST. This conclusion remains the same. However, an additional poly
AST was also noted in this area containing urea ammonium nitrate which
was noted with a small leak.
Kleinfelder recommends implementing secondary containment at all
petroleum ASTs or other chemical coAtainers located at the site. Those
ASTs with soil staining and even th*e without observable stains can
contribute to subsurface petroleum contamination. Impacted soil should be
removed and disposed of according to federal, state and local laws and
regulations. If requested, Kleinfelder can assist in the evaluation of
petroleum impacted soil and disposal options. This conclusion remains the
same.
7. A concrete box was located in the open area between the barns and sheds
in the southwestern portion of the site. According to Mr. Dotinga, the
concrete pad contained a diesel AST from a previous farmer. Although no
95428.E07/STOBR693 July 29,2008
®2008 Kleinfelder Page 20 of 26
