Lh'q KLEINFELDER
L 6 SITE RECONNAISSANCE
6.1. METHODOLOGY AND LIMITING CONDITIONS
L
Mr. Ryan Brosius, staff environmental scientist, conducted a site reconnaissance on
L March 24, 2006. The approximate site boundaries are shown on Plate 2 and 3, "Site
Map," and color photographs of the site are presented on Plates 4 through 7 (Appendix
A). The site conditions discussed below are limited to readily apparent environmental
conditions observed.
L
6.2. GENERAL SITE SETTING
6
The site is located south of Lone Tree Road, east of Carrolton Road, west of Van Allen
Road and north of Zummalt Road, located northwest of Escalon, California. The
6. subject site is approximately 410-acres in size and at the time of Kleinfelder's site
reconnaissance the site consisted of orchard, row crop, a dairy and rural residences.
s
6. Lone Tree Creek trends east/west through the center of the site and divides APN 205-
100-16 and 205-100-17. The southern portion (APN 205-100-17) of the site consisted
of an orchard. Irrigation control structures and a pole-mounted transformer were noted
along the southern border of the parcel. A remnant burn area is located in the north
central portion of the parcel. There did not appear to be any hazardous materials or
L debris within the burn area. Located in the center of the parcel are a diesel AST
(staining noted at the base of the AST), an irrigation pump and concrete diversion
structure. What appeared to be asbestos cement pipe (transite) was noted in the
northeast corner of the parcel adjacent to the creek. Debris was noted in the creek,
which included: a refrigrator, a tractor tire, tires, a dryer, a water heater, glass, and
household debris. A small pile of household debris is located in the northwest corner of
L the parcel adjacent to the creek. Multiple culverts were noted along the creek and
several contained water draining into the creek along the subject site.
Parcel 205-100-16 contains a dairy, agricultural fields and residential structures.
Irrigation control structures and standpipes are located throughout the parcel. A
irrigation well/pump is located on the north center border of the subject site. An
6. irrigation pump is located along the western border of the site and is located within the
irrigation canal. Three domestic wells and an irrigation well is located along the eastern
border of the site. An irrigation well/pump is located on the southeast border of the site.
6. No leaking, staining, or stressed vegetation was noted in association with the wells or
pumps. Pole mounted transformers were noted along the western border of the site.
Blue non-PCB stickers were noted on several of the pole-mounted transformers.
6
67453.P01/ST06R715/RB:Iv Page 22 of 37
©2006 Kleinfelder, Inc.
