No evidence was found, however, to
indicate that the chemicals were applied inappropriately.
The above-ground storage tank is not within a secondary containment area. Any and all leaks could
potentially impact the soil.
I
Septic systems may be used for inappropriate disposal of hazardous substances. If the septic system
serving the milk barn has not been property abandoned,it may serve as a contaminant pathway on the
Lsubject property.
5.0 CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS
Given the historical uses of agricultural chemicals and petroleum products on the subject property,
meaningful conclusions regarding the presence or extent of such material cannot be determined without
Lsoil sampling and analysis. Such sampling and analysis is especially warranted in the conversion of
agricultural land into residential use, as may be the case for this property.
` The stained soil and leaking drum should be removed from the property and properly disposed in
accordance with federal, state, and local regulations. The tires and other surface debris in and around
the western canal should be removed and appropriately disposed.
it If the above-ground storage tank is to remain in use it should be placed within appropriate secondary
containment. Any oil or chemical drums to remain on the property should be placed is secondary
I to containment,
9
6. '404
he
