LMarch 31, 2005
NOA Project Number: E05039A
I
L In his responses to the questionnaire,Mr. Hofmann indicated that the current owners of the property
include Alan Hofmann,Bryan Hofmann, and Susan Neilsen. They acquired the property in 1995 from
S their parents, Eugene and Phyllis Hofmann who had owned APN 229-150-03 for approximately 40
L years, and APN 229-150-01 for approximately 50 years. A tenant currently lives in the house on the
property and uses a portion of the property for cattle grazing. The property has a water well and septic
Lsystem for the house.A former 500 gallon underground storage tank containing gasoline was located
L near the garage and was piped into a gas pump in the garage. Mr. Hofmann also indicated in the
questionnaire, that two above-ground storage tanks were located on the east side of the garage, one was
a 300 gallon gasoline tank and one was a 200 gallon diesel tank. The portion of the property that is now
L used for cattle grazing was once a walnut orchard. The portion of the property planted in rice has been
a rice field for many years.
i
L Mr.Bryan Hofmann was interviewed at the subject property. To the best of Mr.Hofmann's knowledge,
all the fuel tanks and gas pump were removed from the property m1980. The garage where the gas
PUMP was formerly located now contains a boat, tools, and household items.
3.0 PAST AND CURRENT SOURCES OF CONTAMINATION
L3.1 Research Methods
j NOA employs a standard practice for review of database information. On a street map showing the
L location of the subject property,a circle is drawn one-quarter mile out from the property boundaries,
and street maps or web-based mapping services are then used to determine address ranges for all streets
L within the quarter mile. All agency databases searchable by address are then searched for these address
ranges.
L 3Quality Control Regional Water QuaControl Board
L• Our office reviewed the Faking Undetgmand Storage Tanks(LUST)list Qanuary 2005),the WaterPunayorr
L Quarterly Report on MTBE Qanuary 2005), and the Spills, Leaks,Investigations, and Cleanaos(SI IC)list (1"
Quarter 2005) on file with the Central Valley Regional Water Quality Control Board(CVRWQCB)6 in
an attempt to determine if there are any files present at that agency which note the unauthorized release
of a toxic or hazardous agent into the environment on the subject property or within a one-quarter mile
L. radius of the subject property. The subject property was not listed on any of these databases, and no
addresses within one-quarter mile of the subject property were found on the databases.
L
I
L
L6Califomia Regional Water Quality Control Board,Sacramento,w .nvrcbxa.gov.
5 .*44
L
