November 29, 2000
To Whom It May Concern,
It is my pleasure to write this letter for John Eagal to support the development of his
nature preserve. It is my understanding that John is in need of an area to bring in either
automobiles or buses from the local public and private schools. He also needs a permit to
construct a facility for gathering the students for instructional purposes. This building would
contain restrooms and double as a storage area for maintenance materials. These improvements
would allow John to bring more students to the nature area.
John Eagal has been a lover of nature and supporter of education for many years. He has
allowed students and scout troops to visit his natural settings in the south county area and west of
Stockton to learn about the benefits of our natural assets. He has also placed into motion a
program to show the stresses of our society on our environment. With your help and John's
drive, we can provide another natural learning station for our children.
Among the educational benefits this nature preserve would extend would be to
compliment the fine program that San Joaquin County provides at the Science Camp at Jones
Gulch and Redwood Glen. The younger children would be given some elementary information
and allowed to explore the habitat to learn with guidance of John and the classroom teacher. The
older children could draw upon their Science Camp experience to further understand the ties
between our ecology(the valley and deka) and that of the coast and the coastal forest.
The greater good can be awarded our children by providing this arca adequate facilities to
house instructional programs. Mr.Eagal is willing to provide his lands for environmental study.
It would be substantially beneficial for the children of our area if the powers that be in San
Joaquin County Government would grant John Eagal the necessary permission to further develop
this natural preserve and provide one more excellent teaching station.
Thank you for your time and consideration
Sincerely yours,
Charles A. Buettner, Owner
Carden School of Stockton '
CB:mt
1200 W. Hammer Lane Stockton, CA 95209 (209) 478-8135
