SI AN GE AQUATIC.
RESOURCES
State--of California
Military Department (PAO)
P.O. Box 269101
Sacramento, CA 95826-9101
SFC Frank Jones
1 800 321 6824 ext 3303 June 15, 1993
RE: Request for Assistance with Proposed Wildlife Habitat/Nature
Center/Recreation Development.
Dear Mr. Jones,
As per your request, I would like to submit the following
detailed information regarding the proposed wildlife/recreation
development we discussed earlier. The purpose of this letter is
to inquire into the possibility of receiving varied assistance
from the California National Guard in the development of this
Property-
Mr. John Eagal has plans to develop a 60 acre parcel of land
adjacent to the San Joaquin River near Tracy. This parcel of
land is zoned as General Agriculture with the use designation as
a Recreational Center with San Joaquin County. The proposed
project is adjacent to two riparian wildlife habitat corridors,
which includes property to the south of the project comprised of
approximately 70 acres, while adjacent property located to the
east, across the San Joaquin River, is comprised of approximately
15 acres. Due to past agricultural development, the proposed
project has significantly reduced values for wildlife resources
in comparison its historic habitat qualities.
Mr. Eagal has secured the services of my company, Strange
Aquatic Resources, to assist with the permitting, planning,
development, and/or restoration of various fisheries and wildlife
habitats throughout the property. As riparian wildlife habitat
continues to decline or show little recovery throughout the
state, this project has the potential to significantly increase
the quality of riparian habitat on the San Joaquin River
watershed and in the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta.
27
