It is under the inner approach
and climbout area on centerline to runway 34.
The Installation Compatible Land Use Plan for Sharpe Army Depot
shows this area as within the 65 to 75 dB CNEL noise contour. It
also shows it to be within Accident Potential Zone II.
The San Joaquin County Airport Land Use Commission does not have
jurisdiction over this area at this time, but is soon expected to
be. The Federal Aviation Administration does have jurisdiction over
Federal Military Airfields and all land uses must comply with the
provisions of FAR Part 77.
FAR Part 77 describes the approach clearance surface as:
An inclined plane, synWL-tr•ical about the runway centerline
extended, beginning 200 feet beyond each end of the runway end
and extending 50, 000 feet.
The slope of the approach clearance surface is 50 to one along
the runway extended until it reaches an elevation of 500 feet
above the established airport elevation.
The Airport Land Use Plan states, that under the inner approach
and climbout area :
Because of crash hazard in these areas, no land use is permitted
which would result in a concentration of people.
• COUNTY OF SAN JOAQUIN • CITIES OF STOCKTON, LODI, TRACY, MANTECA, ESCALON, RIPON
